Real people and what they say

How do I add a conversation?

Why it works this way

Bring the transcripts raw, and the product reads them instead of a summary.

A summary has already thrown away the sentence that mattered, and the product cannot get it back. So bring the transcript, not your summary of it.

What we gave up: a summary box. You paste or drop what was said, and nothing asks you to boil it down first.

What it is

You bring the conversation as it happened: the transcript, raw. Iris, your AI guide, reads it against your test's questions and files what came out of it. Notes from a call work too, when a transcript is all you have.

How to use it

  1. Open the test. An empty test fills the page with one calm drop zone: "Drop your interviews here".
  2. Drop files anywhere on the page, or press Choose files, or choose paste your notes. Text, Word, PDF and subtitle files all work.
  3. If you paste, say who you spoke to. The person's name is what shows in lists, instead of a file name.
  4. Watch the list. Each conversation says "Iris is reading it…", then shows the date it arrived.
  5. Open any conversation for its own page: what they said, and what it might mean for your bet.

You can drop several at once, and drop more while the first ones are being read. Iris may also offer an attach button in the conversation when she asks you for a transcript.

How much fits. A normal written-up interview fits whole. A very long one is trimmed to its beginning, and the page says so: "That file was longer than we keep, so this is the beginning of it." A board holds a limited amount of conversation text across all its tests, and the page tells you when it is full.

What it will never do

  • Ask you to summarise a conversation before it reads it.
  • Quietly drop a conversation. A file that cannot be added says why, in words.

If something looks off

  • "There is almost no text in that file. If it is a scan or a photo, the words cannot be read out of it, so paste them in instead." Paste the text.
  • "That one is already attached to this round." You added it twice. Nothing changed.
  • "Read it again." A reading failed. The conversation is safe, and the button runs the reading again.
  • "This board is holding as much transcript text as it can." The board is full. The message suggests taking one conversation off, but there is no button for that. Use Tell Omer and say which board.
  • Names that look like file names. If you did not say who you spoke to, the file name shows instead. Paste with a name next time.
