Real people and what they say
How do I know I have talked to enough people?
Why it works this way
You watch the answer take shape after every conversation, not all at once at the end.
The answer should move in front of you after each conversation you add, not once at the end, when they are all in. And the signal to stop comes from what you are finding, not from a number written in advance. A number written in advance is a guess about someone else's market, so the test's size is where you start, not where you must stop.
What we gave up: a meter or a score, and a fixed number for everyone.
What it is
There is no number of conversations that is enough for everyone. Your test starts with a rough size, which might be eight, and that is a starting guess, not a rule. The page shows the answer take shape after every conversation, and when the latest ones stop adding anything, it says so. You decide when to stop.
How to use it
- Find the size the test sets for how many conversations it expects. A test that compares cards shows it at the foot: "3 of 8 conversations in". With nothing in yet it adds: "One is enough to settle. More make the answer steadier."
- After each conversation, look at What you brought back: how many findings got stronger, got weaker, could not separate, or were not asked about, and how many are "not repeated yet".
- On a test that compares cards, watch the foot. When the latest conversations add nothing new, the foot says "Nothing new", and the top-bar button changes from Call it now to Settle it. That is a count of new findings. It is not a verdict on which card is right.
- On a test of one idea, watch the tally under Read the results: "3 of 5 met your bar so far. You asked for 7 of 10." The Keep going button says how many more would reach your bar, and the page says plainly if the bar can no longer be reached.
- When you are ready, call it. If you settle below that size, a plain line says so: "You are settling on 3 of 8 conversations." Settling early is allowed.
What it will never do
- Call the test for you. It reports what has stopped changing, and the call is yours.
- Change your bar because you settled early.
- Say which card is winning while you gather.
If something looks off
- "No conversations in yet." Nothing is logged. If the test sets a size, the foot reads "0 of 8".
- "3 conversations in" with no total. This test sets no size, so there is nothing to count against.
- "Iris is reading it…" Iris, your AI guide, is reading the conversation you just added. The counts will move when she finishes.
- "2 days past your deadline · 6 of 8 in." On a test that compares cards, the foot says so when the deadline has passed. Nothing closes. Press Add two weeks, or call it.
- One conversation. Everything reads as a first mention, and the page says so.
