Who’s already circling (the competition)

There is always competition. Even when no product exists yet, the way people solve the problem today competes with you. So Discover Agents never tells you a space is "wide open". Instead it maps who's circling, in tiers:

  • Direct: products doing the same job for the same people.
  • Adjacent: nearby tools people bend to fit the job.
  • Incumbent: the big established player in the wider category.
  • What people do today: how the group handles it now with no dedicated tool (by hand, spreadsheets, in-house, an agency). Always there.

Named players come from a live web search and link to their source; "what people do today" is honest reasoning, not a made-up startup. Each entry shows what they do and the gap they leave: the opening you'd slip into.

Those gaps feed straight into What to check before you build: is the gap everyone leaves open a real opening, or a dead end nobody actually wants?
