How do the little explainers work?
Why it works this way
Words we invented are explained on the spot, where you meet them.
A manual makes you leave your board to read about it. We explain a word once, on demand, right where you stand, and only for the words a person cannot act correctly without. Many of them exist because a word sounds like more than it is, so the correction is the content: a space is a patch of the market, not yet a problem.
What we gave up: A single page that explains everything, and long explanations. Each one is short, and they do not open one inside another.
What it is
Discover Agents asks you to read a few dozen words you have probably never met: spaces, the bar, "buildable now", "not checked". Instead of sending you to a manual, it explains the word where you meet it. A word with a dotted underline, or a small question mark beside a heading, opens a short explanation of one or two sentences. There are over a hundred of them across the product.
How to use it
- On a laptop, point at the dotted word or the small question mark. The explanation opens after a moment and stays open while you read it.
- On a phone, tap it. Tap it again, or tap anywhere else, to close it.
- With a keyboard, press Tab until the word or mark is focused. The explanation opens, and Escape closes it.
- On a card that you can press, tapping or pressing a word's explanation will not pick the card. Asking what a word means does not choose anything.
Each explanation says what the word is and, where that is the real confusion, what it is not. The explanation of a space begins: "A patch of the market you could build in. Not a problem yet."
What it will never do
- Ask you to leave your board to understand a word.
- Change your board when you open one. An explanation only explains.
- Open on its own. It opens when you point at it, tap it or focus it.
If something looks off
- A word has no dotted underline. Not every word has one. If you could not act without knowing what a word means, tell us through Tell Omer.
- The explanation will not close. Tap it again or tap anywhere else, or press Escape if you are on a keyboard.
- It disagrees with what you see. The screen is right and the explanation is out of date. Tell us.
- It opens while you are only moving the mouse across the page. It opens after a short pause on the word. Moving on closes it.
- You want the long version. Some explanations end with a link to the guide that goes deeper. For the rest, look for the word in the guide titles.
