Tests

How do I compare options and make the call?

Checked on 6 Oct 20263 min read

Why it works this way

When you compare options, the product shows what came back for each card and says it is not a recommendation, so the pick is yours.

Talking to more people does not make something true. It is qualitative research, so a test shows what came back for each card and leaves the weighing to you.

What we gave up: a pass mark on comparisons, and ranking or pre-selecting the card that came up most.

What it is

Calling a test is how you end it. When a test compares cards (spaces, problems or opportunities), Call it now opens a pop-up with what came back for each card, and you pick. When a test is about one idea, you call it from the page, against your bar.

How to use it

A test that compares cards

  1. Add conversations. A count at the foot says how many are in ("3 of 10 conversations in").
  2. Press Call it now in the top bar. For each card the pop-up shows how many of your conversations raised it ("2 of 5", or "Not raised"), a short note written from them, and what was said. The foot says "From 5 conversations. Not a recommendation."
  3. Pick. For problems you may take several forward. For opportunities and spaces you take one. Nothing is pre-selected. Press Take forward, None of them, or Keep testing, which closes the pop-up and records nothing.
  4. Iris, your AI guide, asks why you chose, and keeps your answer in your own words. The cards then carry "Selected in the test" or "Tested, not selected".

If every card got the same reaction, a button says so: "They all got the same reaction." That records a round that could not tell them apart, which is an answer too. Settling early is allowed: "You are settling on 3 of 8 conversations."

A test of one idea

  1. Under Read the results, mark each conversation against your bar: Met it or Did not. Until you mark one, the page may show Iris's read of it, with the line she read.
  2. The page keeps count ("3 of 5 met your bar so far. You asked for 7 of 10") and says when the bar can no longer be reached.
  3. Under What now? press Call it, then choose It worked, Mixed or It didn't. Iris then asks what actually happened, and records your answer as you say it.

What it will never do

  • Pick for you or pre-select a card.
  • Rank the cards. They stay in your board's order.
  • Read a card nobody raised as a verdict on it. "Not raised, not asked" means the round did not reach it.

If something looks off

  • "Nothing to call yet." Drop in your first conversation first.
  • "Iris is still reading" a conversation. The counts will move when she is done. Wait, or call anyway.
  • "The note could not be written right now." What was said is shown under each card instead.
  • Past your deadline. Nothing closes. Move the deadline, or call it.
